Our Experience at Scenic Sauna

Scenic Sauna is a bougie facility between Gloucester and Oxford in the depths of The Cotswolds.

Positioned on a diversified farm, there’s lots going on from Paddle to a climbing gym, but tucked away behind the more effortful activities is a little woodland area that holds a secret.

Once inside a small fenced area, you’re greeted by a member of the Scenic Sauna team who show you and your fellow guests the ropes.

Facilities

This venue features a pretty barrel sauna with a view over the neighbouring fields, three separate ice-baths, a fire pit and a yoga platform where they stage breathwork sessions and various other activities throughout the week.

There is a reception area where you can purchase some extras like scrubs and there’s a small changing area which has two cubicles. There are lockers for your bits within the area too. Two cubicles was a bit shy for the 6 adults that were there during our visit but you can use the on-site toilets which are on the way back to the car park and pick up a lovely hot chocolate at the cafe in the climbing gym on your way out!

The Sauna

This is a lovely barrel sauna for 6 people and was around 80℃ during our visit.

The Ice Baths

With someone on hand to offer encouragement and some Wim Hof techniques (trained), the ice baths were enthusiastically used by everyone during our session. They were easy to get in and out of and the circulating water meant they remained at a constant temperature throughout the session. The baths were perhaps a little cold for some at 3℃ but I am sure you could call ahead and ask that one be not quite so brusk if you wanted as the staff were very accommodating.
